Dan's Album Review:
I read somewhere that a guitar player from Slayer really likes this band. Not that I'm to be swayed by that which is enjoyed by a favorite artist, but it made me think: then he must like Isis and Pelican too, because while these bands aren't sound-alikes, there's certainly enough in common between them. Slight doomy, slight indie metal, slight prog.
I do like this album, I like the extended-length riffs of the chorus of "The Immateria" and the most of "Homebound", I like the airiness and Floydesque melodies in "It Comes Into View", I like the rhythms in "Where the Wave Broke" and staccato attack at the end of it. There are so many cool parts to point at across this album, it's truly an inventive and provacative piece of work.
