Dan's Album Review:

Schmaltzy, smarmy, sometimes kinda cute, but ultimately, this is kind of a musical jerk-off. Most of the cast can sing really well, the songs are all ultra 50's retro throwback lounge tunes, and played faithfully and well in that style; so as such, this album must rely entirely on the weight of the humor of the lyrical content. Which is ok sometimes, but it isn't really the Family Guy, you know? Family Guy relies on a visual medium, so while we can imagine all the characters singing and saying these things and whatnot, it still kinda lacks. It's likely a project that was doomed to mediocrity and peculiar collectability from the start, and an album like this will be held onto by all the hardcore Family Guy fans (myself included) who just feel guilty about throwing anything away. Well, and the bonus DVD helps.
